Pathside Soba

A couple of weeks ago, Shelley and I had lunch at a second soba (buckwheat noodle) restaurant, about 2 minutes walk from our house, and overlooking the Philosopher's Path. (For our experience at the first soba restaurant fitting this description, see here.)

The two basic ways to have soba are either cold with a dipping sauce or hot in a soup. Shelley went the dipping sauce route while I went for the soup:



In addition to my soba soup, I also tried something new -- tempura oysters (which are the crispy objects you can see in the foreground of the photos above and below):



The next day was a Saturday, and we ended up going back to the same restaurant with the girls. In the background of all of these photos you can see the Philosopher's Path running along the canal outside:

  1. Yes to the tempura oysters..they look delicious! It's lucky you all were adept at using chopsticks before ever traveling to Japan. Love the photo of Chloe & Shelley.
