Missing Abe

On our summer 2017 roadtrip back from Wyoming, we passed through Springfield, Illinois and visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum:

At the gift shop, Shelley picked up a stylish black t-shirt with the words "I miss Abe" in white letters on the front. He she is wearing it a few days later on the same roadtrip, in front of Monticello, the Virginia home of another U.S. president, Thomas Jefferson:

Shelley brought the t-shirt with her to Japan, and has been wearing it more often now that the summer weather has arrived:

It was only recently that it dawned on us that wearing a t-shirt that says "I miss Abe" in Japan is open to misinterpretation, because "Abe" is the surname of the current Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe!

  1. That Abe T-shirt came in handy! Great photo of Shelley. (If Sage had moved a little closer to the display of Lincoln & fam she would've looked like a family member.Chloe blended right in. I didn't realize it was her at first!)
