At the beginning of Term 3, each child in the Middle School picked a "Passion Project", a self-devised endeavor with some artistic element that they would spend most of the remainder of the term working on. The due date for all these Passion Projects was today, so both Chloe and Sage have been staying on after school several days this week to finish up their respective projects.
Chloe's project was a collection of short stories and poems that she then produced in book form. He she is the evening before the due date, working in the corridor outside the art room to glue and bind the four copies of her book:
Sage's project was to make a quilt, that she designed and sewed together herself. Sage also stayed on at school the evening before the due date, but she had been assigned a separate project for science to make a model of a planet, so this is what she ended up working on that evening. Here Sage is, with her planet project in the background, in the school's art supply room (or, as I call it, the school's Room of Requirement):
Today, before the fund-raising concert, all the Middle Schoolers got to display their finished Passion Projects.

Chloe + book:
Some of the other Passion Projects included handmade costumes, photography, and dance performances.
Chloe + fans:
Chloe's language arts teacher, Mr. Laurent, joking that when Chloe becomes a famous author, he will be able to say to people that he taught her!

I am humbly bursting with awe and admiration for these two girls!! "Passion Project" is the correct title...as it is clear that they both immersed themselves wholeheartedly in their projects! Sage noted in her poster that she wanted to try something different and also useful, Mission accomplished, young lady! It's not only useful..it's beautiful!! And math had to be involved with designing and measuring. All that and making a planet too. I'm sure Chloe's book of poems and short stories that she created is amazing!! She made 4 copies..um..an ardent fan would cherish one...even proudly purchase one!! Please, granddaughter!
